Abstract:IRNSS is an independent regional navigation system developed by India. The IRNSS constellation is composed of 3 Geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites and 4 Inclined Geo-synchronous orbit (IGSO) satellites. Three satellites have been launched until now. The full constellation will be operational by 2015. It is designed to provide accurate position information service to the area enclosed by the rectangle from Latitude 30 degree south to 50 degree North, Longitude 30 degree east to 130 degree east. Better user experience will be obtained in the above area through using multi-mode navigation receiver integrating IRNSS. The satellite constellation, the signal characteristics and modulation schemes of IRNSS are described and the difference of SPS signals between IRNSS and other satellite navigation system are analyzed. The method to integrate IRNSS into the multi-mode receiver is also proposed.
