Abstract:In this paper, a dipole antenna with broadband radar cross section(RCS)reduction is proposed based on the polarization conversion meta-surfaces. By replacing the traditional metal reflector with the polarization conversion meta-surfaces, the out-of-band RCS reduction is achieved without degrading the antenna radiation performance. Simulation is carried out taking a dipole antenna as an example. Results show that, compared with the RCS characteristic of the dipole antenna with metal reflector, acceptable RCS reduction can be obtained in 5-18GHz when the meta-surfaces are excited by the x-polarized / y-polarized waves in normal direction. The 5dB bandwidth of the monostatic RCS reduction is from 6.3 to 14.5GHz and from 5.9 to 14GHz for two orthogonal incident waves respectively, and good out-of-band RCS reduction is achieved with antenna radiation performance basically unchanged.
