Abstract:A novel balanced cylinder conformal leaky wave antenna (LWA) based on composite right/left-handed material is proposed. The unit is consist of cylinder conformal waveguide. By utilizing square slot structures, series capacitors that allow continuous energy leakage are introduced to get desired radiation performances. And metallicvias are used to obtain shunt inductors to realize left-handed transmission feature. The antenna has acceptable broadside radiation performance at the balanced point 15.6 GHz. The antenna impedance bandwidth is 4.3 GHz(13.5~17.8 GHz), across which its main beam can scan continuously from -57° to +30°.
